MORE THAN 5,000 RUNNERS RACED IN ITALY RUN BY FERRERO 4M TO HONOR ITALIAN HERITAGE IN CENTRAL PARK

July 18, 2022
5,000 runners raced through Central Park on Saturday, July 16 as part of the annual Italy Run by Ferrero. Ferrero, maker of Nutella, Kinder Joy and other confections and treats, partnered with New York Road Runners (NYRR), the world's premier community running organization, as well as The Consulate General of Italy in New York on the four-mile run. Results are available at nyrr.org.

“This is a great celebration of sport and friendship in the heart of New York,” said Fabrizio Di Michele, Consul General of Italy in New York. “We are proud of this initiative, which brings together Italians, Americans and people originating from any corner of the world. It is beautiful to see thousands of people running and having fun together. This race was fully booked in just a few weeks, confirming the strength of the relationship between New York and Italy.”

Participants and other event attendees had the opportunity to enjoy a post-race festival in the park including live music, fun-filled fitness activities, and samplings of iconic Ferrero products such as Nutella & Go, Ferrero Rocher, Tic Tac, along with Kinder Joy and Kinder Bueno.

"New York Road Runners is thrilled to be partnering once again with Ferrero and the Italian Consulate to bring this joyful, energetic, and culturally meaningful race back to Central Park for the first time since 2019," said NYRR CEO Kerin Hempel. "We are excited to connect with our running communities near and far and welcome runners of all ages to share in the transformative power of running by participating in the Italy Run by Ferrero 4M."

“We are amazed by all the people who joined us in New York today for our Italy Run. On behalf of the Ferrero Group, we are so appreciative of the outstanding participation from those who attended or came out to support their loved ones. Each year, we are proud to partner with New York Road Runners and The Italian Consulate to help promote active lifestyles – an ongoing commitment for our team here at Ferrero” said Todd Siwak, President, and Chief Business Officer of Ferrero North America.

Other sponsors of the Italy Run by Ferrero included Lavazza, Colavita, ITA Airways, Intesa Sanpaolo, QC Terme NY, National Italian American Foundation, Agata & Valentina, Italian Brands Basketball League and Scavolini.
